Mira Costa School - Sweat and Tears

by  on April 3, 2014 in Letters From Cambodia
The first day in Cambodia was by no means an easy one. With high humidities and heat no one was prepared for the intensity of the situation. It was a mental strain just as much as it was a physical one. Seeing such poverty was very difficult to see. A boy with one arm. So precious but horrible to see. Just walking through the streets my mind became aware of an entire different part of the world that  I had no care about before. The interview Max and I did with the traditional Cambodian dance instructor was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever gone through. “My soul is already dead” she claimed. What an amazing woman. Tough but great first day.
